‘Disabled’ govt official seen dancing in video
INDORE, Feb 14: A students’ organisation in Madhya Pradesh on Friday demanded an inquiry after a woman, recently selected in the government service in the disabled quota, was seen dancing in a viral social media video.The woman, however, denied that there was any irregularity in her appointment, claiming that she suffers from 45 percent disability due to bone-related problems though she is able to walk, and even dance a little.A leader of the National Educated Youth Union, said in a statement that Priyanka Kadam, the woman, sought benefit under the disabled quota by providing a certificate of being “bone-disabled” .The results were announced last month and she was selected for the post of district excise officer, but there are videos on social media showing her dancing, which calls into question her disability claim, he alleged. MPPSC officials were unavailable for a comment on the issue despite attempts. (PTI)
Brother, uncle held for raping teen, forcing her to undergo abortion
PALGHAR, Feb 14: A teenage girl from Maharashtra’s Palghar district was allegedly repeatedly raped by her brother and uncle, who also forced her to undergo an abortion, an official said on Friday.Acting on a complaint by the 16-year-old girl, police on Thursday arrested her 18-year-old brother and uncle, whose age was not given.In her complaint, the girl said she was sexually assaulted multiple times by her sibling and uncle between October and December last year. When she became pregnant, the uncle took the teenager to a medical facility at Grant Road in Mumbai for an abortion.The accused have been booked for rape, causing miscarriage without a woman’s consent, and criminal intimidation under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the official added. Woman takes help of lover, associate to kill husband
SHAJAPUR, (MP) Feb 14: A man was killed allegedly by his wife, her lover and one more person in Shajapur district in MP on Friday.“Accused Mamta left the door of her house open to let in her lover Rahul Malviya and the latter’s friend Sunil Malviya with the intention of killing her husband Mukesh Malviya (38). They slit the throat of Mukesh, police told reporters.“While killing him, a finger of Rahul Malviya got chopped off and was lying on the scene of the crime. Mamta, Rahul and Sunil were arrested later that night. They have confessed to the crime,” police said. (PTI)
