SHILLONG: Meghalaya police on Wednesday said that there is no provision in the Indian Penal Code (IPC) if any one practices evil worship but police can take action against anyone who indulges in unlawful activities while worshipping evil.

Police said that believing in evil is not a crime but police would take action against anyone who digs graveyards besides indulging in unlawful activities like sacrificing and others.

Meghalaya DGP PJP Haneman also said that the practice of worshipping evil is an unhealthy trend as it may lead to serious problems of sacrifice and others.

He said that the practice of worshipping evil has literally developed from Western countries.

The growing instance of worshipping Satan in the State has shocked everyone and earlier in Williamnagar, some unidentified persons abducted a six-year-old girl for sacrificing her.

Tura police earlier also arrested five persons from a locality over suspicion they were involved in cult worship after they were caught in a late night raid on Saturday.
