SHILLONG: The four Village Employment Councils (VECs) of Askikandi, West Garo Hills have been accused of misconduct.
In a statement issued on Friday, Nazmul Hashan, a lawyer, accused that government employees are working as wage earners under MGNREGS.
He also alleged that payment is being issued against names of people who have expired.
A person has been issued a job card but payment released against that job card has been claimed without his knowledge.
He also said that some job card holders are not getting the full payment.
“It is also found that same persons have their names in more than one job cards,” Hashan said while adding that Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) is not being followed.
He urged the government to take action against the four VECs of Askikandi- I, Askikandi- II, Askikandi-III and Askikandi- IV villages.
